I left my hotel at 6 PM on March 2, 2026 and completed darshan at Ram Mandir, Hanuman Garhi, and Saryu Ghat in one evening — smoothly, without chaos. Here is exactly how, and what every first-time pilgrim needs to know.
Ayodhya Food Guide
Most Ayodhya travel guides are written by people who visited once, searched Google, and typed what they found. This is not that. I have been to Ayodhya 17 times. My most recent visit was March 2, 2026 — and I am writing this the same evening, still in Ayodhya.
I left my hotel at 6 PM in the evening and covered all three major sites: Ram Mandir, Hanuman Garhi, and Saryu Ghat. The darshan was smooth at all three. No hours of waiting. No chaos.
✦ The Single Most Important Tip
The evening is dramatically less crowded than the morning. Go at 6 PM, find shorter queues, and end your darshan with the Saryu Ghat aarti at the perfect time.
Ram Mandir — What the Experience is Actually Like
Ram Mandir is everything people say it is — and more. On the evening of March 2, 2026, darshan was smooth and without excessive waiting. Crowd management has improved significantly since 2024.

⚠ What You CANNOT Carry Inside Ram Mandir
No digital devices of any kind — no phones, cameras, smartwatches, tablets. The campus has
free lockers for everything. They are well organised and easy to find inside. Use them.
What to carry — and what to leave behind
- ✓
Use the free lockers inside the campus for your phone, bag, and any items not allowed inside.
- ✓
Slip-on footwear — shoes are stored at the same locker area. One stop for everything.
- ✓
Wallet is allowed — cash and cards are fine inside.
- ✓
Modest, clean clothing. No shorts or sleeveless.
- ✗
No leather items inside the temple complex.
- ✗
Do not buy prasad outside — the Ram Mandir Trust gives prasad free to every devotee after darshan.
♻ Wheelchair Arrangements for Elderly Pilgrims
Ram Mandir has
free wheelchair service available at the entrance. No devotee is left behind. Ask the staff — the facility is well managed.

Hanuman Garhi — Do Not Skip This
Many first-time visitors focus on Ram Mandir and skip Hanuman Garhi. This is a mistake. After 17 trips to Ayodhya, I still feel the same energy every time I climb those 76 steps.
🙏 Hanuman Garhi
📍 5 min walk from Ram Mandir⏱ Allow 45–60 minutes
The 76 steps to the top are steep but absolutely worth it. The idol of Hanuman Ji is magnificent — silver, adorned with fresh flowers. On my March 2, 2026 visit, darshan was smooth and unhurried. Go here before Ram Mandir.

Saryu Ghat — End Your Evening Here
If there is one experience in Ayodhya that every pilgrim must have, it is the evening aarti at Saryu Ghat. I have witnessed it 17 times and it moves me every single time.
“The aarti at Saryu Ghat is the most peaceful moment in all of Ayodhya. Everything else fades away.”
